How to make Sea Moss gel?


Step 1: Rinse the sea moss thoroughly to get the debris out

Step 2: Soak in water for 3 hours or more . Add lime to reduce the ocean smell.

Step 3: Remove the soaked sea moss from the water and rinse again

Step 4: Add sea moss and fresh water to the blender, keeping in mind that the less water you add, the more concentrated and thicker the gel would be.

Step 5: Blend until gel

Step 6: Pour gel into glass jar, refrigerate and consume within 3 weeks.



What is Sea Moss?


Sea moss is also called Chondrus crispus, Irish moss, or carrageen moss. It is a type of red algae native to the Atlantic regions. It grows in various colors ranging from dark red color to dark purple, brownish purple, or greenish-yellow. A nutritiously rich, relatively small sea algae high in proteins, minerals, and a good iron and sulphur source. Sea moss has a sea-like odor, and it turns soft in water.


Sea moss contains 92 of the 102 essential amino acids needed by the human body. It promotes skin and hair health, fights off inflammation, and boosts the immune system. It’s anti-bacterial & anti-viral


How to consume sea moss?


The most popular way of having sea moss is by making it into a gel which can be easily added to a bunch of recipes like smoothies, sauces and of course Ice cream! You can also just have it by the spoonful. Some sea moss is even blended with fruit and spices for different flavorings. It can also be made into powder which can be taken in the form of capsules.
